Hello everyone, next week, we're thrilled to travel to Colorado for the first time in frigid weather with our brand-new Crown Limited. In the warmer weather where I’m from, we've been enjoying the car and getting an average of 50 miles.

With Colorado temps at 20 degrees, what type of MPG drop can we anticipate? Any advice on how to get the most mileage out of fuel in cold weather?

That sounds like an exciting trip! In colder temperatures, it's common for fuel efficiency to drop due to factors like engine warmth, increased use of heating and denser air. You can generaly expect a decrease in MPG of around 10-20% when tempratures drop to 20°F though it can vary depending on driving habits and the specific car.

Safe travels and enjoy your time in Colorado!

Yeah Eexpect a 15–20% drop in MPG due to cold weather. I'd advice that to maximize mileage, warm up the car gently and keep tires properly inflated.

Since the colder weather can reduce MPG, I’d recommend keeping a portable tire inflator handy and making sure your tire pressure stays up. Also, try not to rely too much on heated seats and defrosters, they draw more energy than you'd think.
