Crown handling in the cold?

Just wanted to drop my two cents on how my Crown's been holding up in these sub-zero temps and see what you all think. Fired up like a champ, no probs there, and warmed up surprisingly quick. Driving’s been… interesting. Slipped a bit in Eco mode on some ice, but managed to keep it together. Honestly, kinda wishing this thing had a snow mode. Sport S+ feels the most stable, but man, the gas mileage takes a hit.

Anyone else out there braving this weather? What modes are you rocking, and how’s your Crown handling the cold? Stay warm and safe out there!

Toyota should’ve added a Snow Mode to the Crown, considering how well it does in other models. Eco mode is not your friend on icy roads, since it messes with throttle response and regen braking. Sport S+ feels more planted, but at the cost of worse MPG.

Best bet is probably sticking to Normal mode with traction control on unless you’re dealing with deep snow, where turning off TCS briefly might help.

How are your tires holding up? A good set of winter tires might make more of a difference than switching drive modes.

Glad your Crown’s handling the cold well! Sport S+ makes sense for stability. Have you tried Custom mode to balance traction and efficiency?

Awesome that your Crown's starting up fine in the freezing weather. it really puts cars to the test. Eco mode on ice is definitely slippery! I wonder if anyone's using the "Normal" mode or if everyone's just sticking with Sport S+ for better grip.

Normal mode works well for me, and like others said, traction control is a lifesaver. Winter tires make a huge difference too—can’t underestimate how much they help in these temps! Just keep an eye on tire pressure since it drops in the cold, too.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about swapping to winter tires. They seem like a game changer in the cold. I’ll probably stick with Normal mode for daily driving and only use Sport S+ if I need the extra grip. Still, kinda wish Toyota had a Snow mode though, would’ve been nice not to worry about it. Appreciate all the tips!

In east central Iowa with temps below zero and heavy snow my Crown AWD handled the tough conditions well. My heated garage kept things warm and the car’s AWD system and regenerative braking worked great. The heated seats and climate control kept me comfortable. Fuel economy dropped from 46-50 to 35 MPG due to the cold and engine running for heat. Overall happy with how it performed.
