My Toyota Crown's multimedia screen went entirely dark during a recent round of intense thunderstorms. After I stopped and restarted the vehicle at a rest spot, everything was OK. I wonder if the storm's power surge caused it to be a safety precaution. Has anyone else had this experience?

It’s fascinating that the screen went dark during the storm, it could be a result of electromagnetic interference or a voltage fluctuation in the system. Many modern vehicles have safety mechanisms to protect sensitive electronics, so this might have been an intentional precaution. If you’re concerned, you could ask your dealer to check for any fault codes or see if Toyota has documented similar occurrences. If it happens again, it might be worth reporting to Toyota, who knows, maybe they’ll add “storm-proofing” to the next update!

Thanks @Cicero_19Ada, I’ll check with the dealer if it happens again. “Storm-proofing” would be a pretty cool feature to add
