I’ve been hearing a lot about catalytic converter thefts lately, and I’m starting to worry about my ‘23 Crown Hybrid. Since hybrids tend to have those precious metals, I’m wondering if they’re more of a target.

Anyone here taken steps to protect theirs? Maybe installed a cat shield or started parking in a more secure spot? Just curious what’s working for people.

Catalytic converter thefts are definitely a concern. I installed a cat shield on my hybrid, it adds peace of mind. Parking in well-lit areas helps, too.

Glad to hear that! How easy was it to install the cat shield? Do you think it's something you could’ve done on your own, or did you need to call in a pro for help?

Installing the cat shield wasn’t too bad, it came with clear instructions, and I was able to do it myself with basic tools. It helps to have a second set of hands for positioning it, though. If you’re comfortable working under your car and have a socket wrench, it’s a pretty straightforward job. Otherwise, a shop could do it quickly...
