I traveled for almost 50 miles before I noticed that the dealer had put 5.7 quarts of 0W20 in place of the necessary 4.5 quarts of 0W8.I just have taken it to dealer, and I am hoping no serious damage was then. I am so glad I caught it on time, it is crazy.

I will never take my Crown to the dealership for anything unless I am unable to do it because I am missing a specific tool, with the exception of warranty work and the first two complimentary oil changes.

Dealership garages typically don't hire the best and brightest, unless you own a luxury brand. Find a trustworthy tire and lube shop if you are unable or unwilling to perform your own oil changes.

Oh, wow! That's crazy. There is a difference in viscosity between the oils, and it can affect your vehicle’s performance and fuel economy. Considering it happened only once, then I think the engine is safe.

That's really disappointing! Good call on checking. Did the dealer offer any explanation for the mix-up? It’s frustrating when you’re paying for quality service but don’t get it. Thanks for letting us know!
