I’ve had my Crown for a little while now, and while I think it’s an awesome car overall, I can’t help but notice a few things that feel like missed opportunities. Maybe these are things Toyota can address in a software update or with a facelift down the line. Here’s what I’ve been thinking:
Windows: They close with a loud “bang” instead of slowing down gently like in Lexus models. It’s a small thing, but it’d make the car feel a bit more refined.
Instrument Cluster: I like that you can customize and save three different cluster views, but all of them share the same style. How cool would it be to have one in “smart” mode, another in “hard,” and so on?
Panoramic Roof: The bar that cuts across the first third of the roof feels unnecessary. A fully open panoramic roof would’ve been a much cleaner look.
Ambient Lighting: It’s pretty sparse, just some lights in the footwells and door handles. A bit more subtle lighting would’ve given the interior a premium touch. Maybe they’re saving it for a facelift?
Sound System: I’ve been struggling to get the audio to sound just right. The upper bass is okay, but there’s no real lower bass, and the treble feels harsh. Hopefully, it improves with time, but it’s been underwhelming so far.
Passenger Front Seat: It doesn’t adjust fully and sits too high. Even my wife noticed, and she rarely comments on things like this.
What about you all? Have you noticed these things, or are there other areas you think Toyota could improve on? Don’t get me wrong, I love my Crown, but it’s always fun to imagine how it could be even better.
